Armored car "Vodnik" in Syria

28
Last month, in the Syrian army, Russian Vodnik armored vehicles were seen - GAZ-3937 versions equipped with a turret installation with 14,5 mm (CPVT) and 7,62 mm (PKT) machineguns. Recently it became known about the presence in the troops of another version of the armored vehicle, writes Messenger of Mordovia.

Armored car "Vodnik" in Syria

This time we are talking about the version with the sanitary module. This machine is not armed and equipped with special means for mechanizing the lifting of the stretcher with the wounded.

“The armored cars of the Vodnik family are distinguished by a high level of mobility; they can reach speeds on the highway up to 120 km / h. The fuel range is up to 1000 km. GAZ-3937 with its own weight up to 7500 kg is capable of carrying loads of up to two and a half tons. And also to transport about a dozen wounded in a sitting position or several stretchers with wounded ", - the author of a material Lev Romanov writes.

According to him, the production of these cars was discontinued in Russia in 2013 year in connection with the adoption of the armored vehicles of the Tiger family.

Well, in vain they stopped making them. Great cars really.

Maybe after the practice of operating in combat conditions, our Defense Ministry will return to them. No wonder they were there. The car is interesting in its concept.

Perhaps they’ll dine in Syria, identify shortcomings, estimate the possibilities of modernization and return them to production (if it is worth it) or completely forget (if the sheepskin is not worth the cost).

In Chechnya, all the shortcomings were revealed, they generally said that in the event of a fight only the glass would remain intact.

They stopped doing it, because they showed themselves poorly in Chechnya, nothing good, the same armored personnel carrier with paper protection, a coffin on wheels ... Better than nothing - this is its only plus ...

Controversial opinion: Weak mine protection, plus the positions of the commander, driver, and personnel are poorly located, directly above the bridges, if an explosion occurs, the crew will be defeated. Also, dividing into compartments is not the best solution, for example, it’s impossible to transfer from the driver’s place to the shooter when conducting a battle.

Piece goods. But I don’t understand why this piece of goods was sent to Syria? "You are wretched, that we are not worth it." We cleared the warehouses, and are happy. And now the Syrian craftsmen will puzzle over the repair of these machines.
They sent a large batch of metal to Syria. It would be better if they put up for auction for Russian craftsmen, and instead of them they would send armored personnel carriers or trucks that they already deliver to Syria. They don’t value other people's work, because they don’t know what it is.

Absolutely, we have them written off everywhere. According to the drivers, an extremely unsuccessful device. And in the Caucasus did not show. No modules were made for it.
They have not yet rotted in the storage warehouses and are sent to where they will be of any use. On such an armored car it is in any way better than on a Toyota with a DShK.

It is better. But Toyota is running. And spare parts for it - no problem around the world. And the spare parts for the car, which was released by the series just over a hundred, and is no longer produced, as well as the spare parts for it, is a completely different song. No one will ever return money for this rarity, just as for the logistics to Syria of this useless, but armored vehicle. It would be much more useful to leave them in Russia. And the metal would remain in Russia, and some money from the auction. And what a joy to Russian craftsmen! They would have brought their personal cars to mind for sure. But someone decided to just clean the warehouses.

I also like the option of a modular machine, but alas, it is not for modern military operations.
      His time is 60-70gg.
Due to the layout, mine resistance is about zero. Also questions on the interaction of the crew in battle.

The army finally localized its wishes and leaves the most successful and universal models. “Experiments” and some intermediate samples went to Syria. Serdyukovskie Iveco flashed in the same place. As the new technology replaces the news, "non-format", which has a resource left, will go to fight with the Basmachi. Libya is next in line for equipment. As the Boomerangs will be adopted, the BTR-80 (82) will go to war.

C'mon, the BTR-82 is at war from the very beginning, and in general, you certainly have the right to your opinion, but you are wrong. There have long been PMCs like Wagner and the Russian military, just as likely from some of the best-prepared units of the Russian army and they are unlikely to be in such a situation, as you described, would be glad. Iveco is there because, unlike the Tiger, he already has extensive combat experience and good mine resistance, as in other respects, Iveco is still better, so they took the best. Unfortunately in the Russian Federation, the serial production of the Lynxes was closed and of course, it would have had to be closed, sanctions, but still it was worth doing them as much as possible. In Syria, it’s just the latest that they are experiencing, except for Rysy and Tigers and Typhoons they lit up, not to mention the BTR-82 and T-90. Unfortunately, the fact that neither Armat nor Kurganzov and the Boomerangs are visible in Syria, in my opinion, indicates that they are not yet ready for such tests.

Iveco, for your information, has a large circulation and track record in non-belligerent Europe. Real combat service is not his case. During tests in Russia, the Lynx showed poor cross-country ability in winter, not the best maintainability in the field and, as it is not strange, could not confirm the declared protection of the crew. This is the same advertised car as the German Leopard, which a month ago unpleasantly surprised its creators.
Regarding "the fact that neither Armat, nor Kurganzov and the Boomerangs are visible in Syria, in my opinion suggests that they are not yet ready for such tests," you are deeply wrong. Syria is now not so much a place for testing as a real combat zone half with an advertising platform for potential buyers. All of the above equipment is currently not considered for sale, because it won’t go anywhere until the needs of the RF Ministry of Defense are completely saturated. I want to remind you that 14 pieces were ordered for internal Russian military tests of the T-100.

Umm, I don’t know if it’s worth posting a photo of the undermined Rysy in Afghanistan, you can easily find it yourself, Iveco is generally one of the most successful MCIs based on the results of its operation in real hostilities. The Taliban are known to be very dangerous opponents and not least their combat experience makes them such, so their IEDs are serious, designed to destroy a car with a crew. Machines of the Lynx type can withstand up to 8 kg, or guarantee the survival of the crew, which can be just observed from the photo-video of the undermined Rysy, Dingo, etc. and judging by the funnels under the fragmented bridges of the IEDs were impressive. In addition to better protection, the Lynx has more space inside, can take more payload. No one says that the Tiger is complete shit, but despite the $ mr spent on developing its first versions, it essentially sucks, without the refinement of the mine protection and ballistic, the Tiger also loses a lot to its western competitors. Of course, you’ve turned down about non-belligerent Europeans!)) In fact, the number and scale of hostilities is an order of magnitude greater and broader than the wars of the Russian Federation over the past 25-28 years. All their armored vehicles were created and modernized precisely according to the results and experience of military operations in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, etc.

For Leo2A4, photos of which have now appeared, nothing concrete can be said now, and I see no reason for such total conclusions. It's about the ancient Leo2A4, which is already a big minus to Leo2A5, 10 years of difference, I'm not talking about Leo2A6M, Leo2A7M +, Leo2 Revolution, or those that Singapore and Malaysia received, and if the crew survived, as can be seen from the open hatches, even this ancient Leo2A4 carried out the most important — the survival of the crew after the defeat of the tank. Even if these Leo are not restored, the crew will just get a new tank and go into battle. But the crew is more difficult to replace. In addition, I repeat, there is so far only a photo where a tank is visible, partially burnt, the BC burned out as it should, judging by the stern of the tower, the hatches are open. What was there, but God knows! Maybe the Turks slept through the onslaught of the barmaley and stupidly left the position and the tank in a panic. And the barmalei then, for propaganda, fucked the ATGM on the tower, they already undermined the Abrams. Maybe this Leo reflected a bunch of everything until it was fried? Yes, you can fantasize anything, or just imagine, only a strange conclusion about Leo2's incapacity, this is, to put it mildly, nonsense, enough to look only at the portfolio of orders from the Germans after his debut in Afghanistan, but at least for the past 10 years. But in addition to military operations, there are tests that the Germans are known to carry out very meticulously.

In Syria, I repeat, is, or was, everything that the newest in the army of the Russian Federation is available for disposal, on land, sea and air, except maybe Airborne Forces, in which there is little sense of course. Someone from the owners of UVZ blurted out that they say that serial deliveries are already underway!

We need a new competition for prospective brdm. It must correspond to all requests that the waterman did not fit. And you need a waterfowl model. On the gamena brdm2 and later, the nurse and the rest of them to do. All the same, the tiger is more a replacement for an unarmored UAZ. And he does not swim. And preferably armament appropriate. So that the gun (if possible, to install an uncontrolled hand grenade launcher in the launch system so that you can shoot on the move), a MANPADS and a gun in a 23-30mm range are possible to boomerang but 6 wheels (3/3). With a ramp or hatches as BTR 82a but from the stern.

For reconnaissance, a telescopic mast is more important, which can raise powerful optoelectronics up to 10 m (see German projects of reconnaissance vehicles Feneck, Boxer). And armament is needed so that in case of detection it would be easier to flee, it would be, 2 independent lightweight DBMs with 7,62, or approx. 12,7 and good stabilization, for firing at high speeds. The reconnaissance armored vehicle will need to be scrapped, not fought, and 30mm will not help him much, rather the opposite. In my opinion, a new reconnaissance machine should be made on the basis of the Boomerang, with two light DOUBMs (7,62 PKM, 12,7, AGS30) in the stern and closer to the bow and telescopic mast with a complex of optoelectronics, in addition, a modern communication system, UAV ( n.p.approx. 1m diameter quadrocopter, for hovering for several hours at an altitude of km and above, radar and backlight for Cornets and co), a masking complex (acoustic, optical, radar, infrared) and of course KAZ.

GAZ-66 and Vodnik from different categories are difficult to get them
off-road 66 in plus without options
in terms of bulletproofness Vodnik, because 66 wasn’t initially booked at all, and if you book it, it’s passable at “0”
mine resistance is almost the same in cases of mine explosions
For modern military operations need other machines.
