Russian-Belarusian border reflections
While Russia is introducing retaliatory measures on the border with Belarus, while people in green caps are rushing around Moscow and the border areas, and in Minsk are expressing their next discontent with Moscow’s actions, we have decided to arrange Russian-Belarusian get-togethers in neutral information space. And, in fact, it’s good to think so much about who will be good from all this and who is bad.
You must agree, dear readers, according to the practice of both our countries, it does not happen that the bill or decision is banged and everything is good from it. Well, historically, it develops.
So they decided two Belarusians and one Russian to think, and what bad does it all promise us. Especially since everything starts on February 9. Tomorrow.
We started by introducing me to the official list of countries with which Belarus seems to have opened a hospitable visa-free door. But before that it is worth explaining for visas.
Until recently, a visa to Belarus was expensive. Short, one-time - 60 euro, repeated use - 180. As if a lot, but the point here is, of course, not in some super-attractiveness of Belarus for European and other tourists, but “just need money”.
Now, for one category of citizens of foreign countries, there is a profit in the form of economy. But for one, and not the very poor.
In general, when I heard that Lukashenka somewhere refuses money, that is, visa fees, I confess, I did not believe it. Well, not in the tradition of the Old Man is. And he was right.
If you read the first paragraph of the decree thoughtfully, this is what it says:
“To establish a visa-free procedure for entry into the Republic of Belarus, departure from the Republic of Belarus at the checkpoint at the State Border of the Republic of Belarus Minsk National Airport and temporary stay in the Republic of Belarus for a period of not more than five days from the date of entry for those who have valid documents to travel abroad for citizens of states according to the application. "
That is, all these exemptions and cancellations apply only to those who arrive in Belarus through the Minsk airport and for a period of not more than 5 days. Having, of course, in the hands of a return ticket. All other categories both paid and will pay.
But - we think. 60 euro - is it a big amount for a businessman who arrives, say, on a Berlin-Minsk flight (240 US dollars one way, Belavia) for negotiations? Quite another question, are there many such clients arriving on the 3-4 of the day ...
So we conclude that this is nothing more than a fiction. What then in Russia so excited?
But from what. And go to the list of countries (and not) for which all this is organized.

I’m not sure that the people of Antigua and Barbuda, Vanuatu, Barbados and Samoa know where Belarus is. About the knights of the Order of Malta, we generally amused ourselves, deciding that the members of Greenpeace and the Jesuit society are no less worthy of a discount.
However, there are a number of countries on the list that are clearly puzzled.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait - these are far from those countries, from where the shaft brings good to us. But the "carriers of the Koran" the representatives of these countries prefer other methods of penetration into Russia. And so far they have been successfully caught in the Crimea and in the southern regions of our country.
But Europe, which has recently become (how could I put it more simply) the hub of “refugees” from the Middle East region, is not the most pleasant neighborhood. We think that everyone understands that this is not about the German burghers Hans and Paula, who will come to Belarus to test local moonshine. Just Hans and Paul will come just for the schnapps.
But for what purpose can Asadulla and Mohammed, the citizens of Germany or France, come to the question ...
Belarus is a small country. I drove all of her from east to west, without straining, in 8 hours. Good road allow.
Absolutely the same way, “European citizens” who arrived without a visa can end up in Russia through 12 hours. What for? Good question.
Versions can be many. And beautiful, and not very. One is enough for me. The organization of something in Russia and the establishment of relations that will not benefit Russia. Today in Europe is full of those who do not like what we are doing in Syria. And those who do not care at all what is happening, because it is necessary to expand the business of selling drugs, for example.
Smart people will say that for this visa-free is not needed. Drug traffickers and terrorists are not poor people from the word “absolutely”, and 60 euros can afford it.
I subscribe to every word.
The more we have the prerequisites in order to carefully watch and record all those traveling through Belarus to Russia from Europe. For nothing good from some categories of people should not wait.
The fact that Belarus is unlikely to become a kind of Europe-Russia transit center for criminals and terrorism, we are all confident. In a country where residents of 1 000 have from 67 to 71 (according to various sources) security officers, it is difficult to hide from the slumbering eye. And nevertheless, vigilance against the "new Europeans" is necessary.
Moreover, our Belarusians on the border do not concern the Belarusians. It was not immediately understood in Belarus that we are not setting up cordons from them. Apparently, everybody has reflexively strained, because lately, only a melancholy and sadness has come out of everything invented by the power of the simple Belarusian.
Interlocutors introduced me to another interesting document.
REFERENCE ON THE MIGRATION SITUATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS FOR 2016 YEAR
From this certificate, prepared on the basis of information from the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus, it is clear that in 2016, foreign citizens and stateless persons (hereinafter referred to as foreigners) entered the Republic of Belarus more than 4,18 million times (for the same period last year (further - APPG) - over 4,38 million times), traveled 4,46 million times (APPG - 4,52 million times).
The largest number of times the State border of the Republic of Belarus was crossed for the purpose of entry into Belarus by citizens of Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, Moldova and Latvia, citizens of these same countries crossed the State border of Belarus the largest number of times and for the purpose of departure.
The main objectives of the stay of foreigners in Belarus are private and official business, tourism, as well as transit through the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the territorial internal affairs agencies, (hereinafter - the Department of Internal Affairs) more than 832 thousand foreigners (APPG - more than 657 thousand) visited the republic for private and business affairs, of which they lived in hotels, sanatorium and health resort organizations, as well as subjects of agro-ecotourism more than 706 thousand people (APPG - 504 thousand). More than 154 thousand foreigners are registered in the Department of Internal Affairs (APPG - more than 184 thousand).
The figures clearly show that 800 thousands of 4 millions of Belarus were interested in Belarus as an object of tourism. This is 20%. The remaining 80% were just passing through. By their own business. These data do not affect migrant workers, asylum seekers, students and other categories that are related to obtaining a residence permit.
It turns out that Belarus is a real crossroads of this kind from west to east and back, where four out of five people going to the sights and ecotourism are in general ... In the Baltics, there is ecotourism, but in Moldova and Ukraine it’s not up to it. And then there are open doors to Europe ...
And we really need it?
Control over the crossing of our border is needed. And in relation to the citizens of Ukraine, and in relation to the Moldovans. Not to be confused with the citizens of Transnistria, and everything is in order. And three times it is necessary to carefully watch the representatives of this very “Europe”, from Tribaltik to France. Nothing good comes from these transistors. An honest person does not need to go to Russia through the visa-free corridor of Belarus.
And, actually, who will touch the Belarusians? As before, welcome, Belarusians to Russia, welcome Russians to Belarus. What problems besides queues may arise? Yes, no. Although Belarus is not the Crimea. I didn’t watch the crowd in June last year at the border. But what can happen through a visa-free hole in Minsk is an open question, as they say.
It turned out that we didn’t get anything that could somehow worsen the relations between Russia and Belarus. Even considering that the representative of Russia, the initiator of all cross-border innovations, was in the minority. And that means that one should not pay attention to the cries from Minsk that Russia wants to worsen relations. We do not want to worsen them.
We want to live in peace.
We have, by the way, this right.
And if someone wants to fill the empty treasury at the expense of tourists from the Seychelles, for example, or Saudi Arabia ... The question then is simple: what about Russia?
