Swedish Foreign Ministry Decides To Change Position On Nord Stream 2
70
Information Agency TASS reports that the Swedish authorities have decided to change their position on the "Nord Stream-2". This is a statement by the Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Vallstrom, who said that the Swedish Foreign Ministry does not object to the temporary placement of pipes for the new gas pipeline in the port of Karlshamn.
Recall that the construction of the Nord Stream-2 is conducted by the Nord Stream-2 AG group of companies. It was this business structure that appealed to the Government of Sweden to provide the opportunity to use the port of Karlshamn for pipe placement. Earlier, the official Stockholm proposal was going to be rejected. In the Swedish Ministry of Defense, they began to voice strange statements that “with the help of Gazprom's pipes,“ Russian special services can monitor the actions of the Swedish Navy. ” These statements were commented, not without irony, in the Swedish media, but Defense Minister Peter Hulqvist still opposes the unloading of pipes in Karlshamn, arguing that his position is "Russian threat."
Today, representatives of the Karlshamn department authorities have to make their verdict on the pipes for the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. If a positive decision is made and the site is opened for unloading, the municipality, under the agreement, receives several million euros from the companies leading the project.
