About the rusting frame of the 3 and 4 units of the Khmelnitsky NPP
It should be noted that the document on the start of construction of these units at the KNPP was signed by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine with Rosatom 7 years ago. Construction was begun, but against the background of the economic problems of Ukraine, Kiev as a whole did not fulfill its obligations under the contract. After the coup d'état, the Maidan authorities decided to break the partnership with Rosatom, after which the construction finally stopped.
Considering that Vladimir Groysman is really determined to finance the completion of the two power units of the Khmelnitsky NPP from the budget, the station's general director Nikolay Panashchenko announced what amount would be needed to complete the work begun several years ago. This amount is approximately 3,7 billion euros.
Nikolay Panashchenko quotes UNN:
Moreover, unfinished facilities that are exposed to various climatic influences may be recognized by a special commission as inappropriate as a future infrastructure of NPP power units.
Hearing about the amount required for completion and the uncertain prospects of the construction itself, Groysman once again stated that “Ukraine needs to increase energy exports,” but did not answer the question whether the government intends to actually finance the project. Based on the situation in the Ukrainian economy, investing 3,7 billion euros in nuclear power plants today is impossible for objective reasons - such funds are simply not in the budget. Waiting for the next tranche from the IMF, which was supposed to come back in December last year.
Earlier it was reported that one of the Chinese companies could act as an investor in the completion of the 3 and 4 units in Khmelnitsky. In China, this information is not confirmed. Apparently, Ukraine once again gave the desired for the real, as with its train to the Chinese border, on which Kiev had placed serious hopes.
