During the fighting in the area of the Syrian air base Tiyas, located between Homs and Palmyra, government troops began to use the Russian mortar "Sani", said Messenger of Mordovia.

Russian "Sani" seen in Syria

“The installation was made on the chassis of a conventional low-tonnage commercial truck (" DongFeng "1065), on which the Russian 120-mm mortar 2BXNNXX" Sledge "is mounted. In the transport position, the mortar is in the back, containers for transporting ammunition are mounted there, ”writes the author of the publication Roman Katkov.

For shooting the mortar is installed on the ground with the help of a special device. "Apparently, the Syrians managed to reduce the calculation from 5 people to 4-x" - the author notes.

The maximum range of the mortar is 7 km, the minimum is 480 m, the rate of fire is from 10 to 15 rds / min. The weight of a high-explosive mine is 16 kg.

Military experts highly appreciated this self-propelled gun - “thanks to this modernization of the 2B11, the Sledge got more mobility,” concludes Katkov.

What does it mean "made on a chassis" that it can fire from a truck? why not just write what is used for transportation. And containers for mines are not so much and a lot of know-how.

Some nonsense in the picture. Everything is blurry. Trunk length or shadow? However, "Military experts have given this self-propelled gun a pretty high rating." With which I congratulate them.

For starters, "Sled" is not a mortar, it is a complex. Including the mortar itself, the wheel drive and the vehicle for transportation with the corresponding equipment in the body.

Question: why did they decide that it was 2B11, and not, for example, PM-43, which, by the way, the Syrians had under 400 pieces at the beginning of the civil war in the troops.

"Sled" - self-propelled gun? What the hell is this? Its main difference from the PM-120 is the transportation method, the sleigh is in the back, and the PM-120 is on a gun carriage attached to the towbar of the car.

So - not so, what's the difference? The main thing is to prevent the West from further unleashing such wars. But - this is already a global strategy.
