An agreement was signed on expanding the base of the logistics of the Russian Navy in Tartus

It became known that Russia and Syria reached an agreement on expanding the material-technical center of the Russian Navy in Tartus. The Russian Navy will be able to accommodate up to 11 ships for various purposes at the same time in the Syrian port. From the message:
This agreement is valid for 49 years and is automatically extended for subsequent 25-year periods if none of the parties notifies the other party in writing through diplomatic channels of its intention to terminate it for at least one year before the expiration of the next period. The maximum number of warships in the Russian Federation that are allowed to stay at the logistics point at the same time is 11 units, including warships with a nuclear power plant, subject to nuclear and environmental safety.
The word "nuclear" has particularly strongly affected the "partners". From the message about the expansion of the MTO base in Tartus, this very word was pulled out, and notes began to appear on the western information platforms, misinterpreting the essence of the concluded agreements. In the notes - to readers who are not used to getting acquainted with information from different sources, Western “adherents of freedom of speech” announce that Russia is on the path of “nuclear expansion”. According to the same logic, any country in the world that uses ships with nuclear power plants is engaged in “nuclear expansion” ...
It should be noted that during the 49-year period, the MTO base in Tartus will act solely on the basis of Russian jurisdiction. Syria provides the base area for use free of charge.
