27 January. This date for each resident of the city on the Neva means no less than May 9. 27 January 1944 to 9 May 1945 remained over a year, but the city celebrated its Victory. He persevered. I survived against all odds. On that distant January evening, for the first time in the entire war, the Leningrad citizens saw not the rays of searchlights and the explosions of anti-aircraft shells, but salutes. The blockade is lifted, the enemy is dropped.
