Russian rifles in service with American police
The report states that the supply contract weapons signed in Las Vegas at the international exhibition Shot Show last 17 - 20 January. "In January, the first deliveries of rifles to US law enforcement services were already made," the general director of NPO Izhmash said in a press release from Maxim Kuzyuk. The volume of the lot and the amount of the transaction of this weapon at the enterprise have not yet been voiced.
As noted at Izhmash, "in the USA, reliable and powerful rifles effective for firing cartridges and shotguns are in demand," and "Saiga 12" in its segment is distinguished by reliable performance, perfect precision and high accuracy of shooting from a distance in its segment 100 meters. It can be compared with a Kalashnikov machine gun. "
“The semi-automatic reloading mode, the speed of change and the large capacity of the store make the Saigu-12 the best weapon for ensuring law and order in urban environments,” Izhmash’s gunsmiths say.
On the site of the enterprise it is reported that this gun is intended for amateur or commercial hunting in different climatic conditions for small and medium-sized animals, as well as poultry. The carbine has a sleek twelfth caliber barrel with a chamber that allows the use of shotgun and bullet cartridges with a sleeve length of 70 mm or 76 mm.
The countries of Central America, which previously could only make orders through American intermediaries, have shown great interest in the "Izhmash weapon". Applications have already been received for the direct supply of sporting and hunting weapons to Jamaica, Guatemala, and also to other countries of the Pacific and Caribbean "- According to a press release of the company.
The Las Vegas exhibit "inspired" gunsmiths. “The American market of civilian weapons is now on the rise; therefore, in 2012, we can predict an increase in supply at the level of 20%. The production capacity of the enterprise is able to provide the necessary volumes,” commented Maxim Kuzyuk, general director of the exhibition for the enterprise.
For the largest Russian manufacturer, such interest came in handy. Recall, last week it became known that the Russian Ministry of Defense refused to buy automatic weapons in the framework of the State Defense Order-2012, stating that the army does not need such volumes.
Immediately after this, Izhmash presented the first sample of the AK-12, the fifth generation Kalashnikov assault rifle, and announced that the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs had already requested it for trial operation. The plant is ready to adjust the supply of this machine and the army. However, the military has not yet shown interest in the new product.
