Maria Zakharova spoke about those invited to the negotiations on Syria in Astana
32
During the briefing, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, confirmed the information that negotiations are underway to negotiate on Syria to be held in the capital of Kazakhstan. According to Maria Zakharova, the negotiations in Astana will differ from the Geneva ones in that invitations have already been sent to representatives of those forces that call themselves moderate opposition and who dissociate themselves from the terrorist groups recognized as such in the UN Security Council.
Maria Zakharova noted that the negotiations in Astana are not a substitute for the negotiation process in Geneva, but she stressed that Russia hopes that the process of a peaceful settlement in the SAR will increase as a result of multilateral negotiations in Kazakhstan.
Maria Zakharova answered the question of journalists about when the meeting will be held in Astana:
This is not a question of the next days. These are plans for the medium term.
Recall that they expressed willingness to participate in the negotiation process in addition to Russia, Iran and Turkey.
On the eve of the Turkish President Erdogan said that it would be nice if Saudi Arabia and Qatar would be involved in the negotiation process in Astana. According to Erdogan, there is in principle no special sense in negotiating with representatives of the armed opposition without participating in the Doha process and Riyadh. Thus, Erdogan actually names those states that, in addition to Turkey itself, have a direct influence on various armed groups in Syria, and which actually make decisions about the activity of terrorist groups in the SAR. Recall that a little earlier, Erdogan called the US accomplice of terrorists.
