NATO chief intelligence officer - the latest Norwegian ship Marjata - has begun tracking the activities of the Russian military fleetwrites a blog bmpd.
The service of the new reconnaissance ship began in May of this year after its arrival in the port of Kirkenes (Norway). “The insides of the Maryaty are literally stuffed with expensive e-filling and innovation in many ways,” the author notes.
In particular, the ship tracked the entire test cycle of the frigate “Admiral Gorshkov”, which took place in the Barents Sea.
“It is noteworthy that this is the fourth reconnaissance ship named by this name. The new "Maryata" is significantly larger than the previous one: 126 m long, 23,5 wide. It has a wider area of operation than the old one, as, indeed, all previous ones, ”the material says.
The previous “Maryata” was put into service in 1955. It is reported that “for almost 20 years it performed tasks in the northern ports of Kirkenes and Varde, located near the borders with Russia”. In spite of the fact that a second reconnaissance ship with the same name appeared, the old “Maryatu” is not in a hurry to write off, for some time it will serve in the Norwegian Navy.
"Maryata-3". Russian sailors gave the ship several nicknames: "Masha", "Marusya" and "Iron".
"Maryata-2".
"Maryata-1".
