On the eve of the Russian journalists appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross with a request to comment on the shelling militants of the Russian mobile hospital. Recall that on the eve of the militants fired at a Russian hospital in Aleppo, as a result of which were killed and wounded Russian doctors (two soldiers, a medical officer were killed). The correspondent of the RT television channel and several Syrian civilians were also injured.
The reaction of the representatives of the ICRC, in principle, fit into the following phrase: “they are to blame ...”
Interfax quotes a statement from the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross:
The ongoing attacks on medical and civilian infrastructure in Aleppo indicate that all parties to the conflict are unable to fulfill their duty to respect and protect medical professionals, patients and hospitals.
Such a statement by the ICRC was not ignored by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The official representative of the department, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said the following:
We counted, at least, on the respect of the ICRC for the activities of our doctors in Aleppo and on the condemnation of the actions of the militants of the so-called "opposition". But they received cynical comments that are not worthy of the high status of the International Committee of the Red Cross and which testify not to the objectivity of approaches, but to indifference to the perfect murder of Russian doctors in Aleppo. Therefore, this is not about the violation by the parties to the conflict of international humanitarian law, as stated in the ICRC report. And about pre-prepared, cold-blooded murder of doctors by militants.
General Konashenkov called the statements made by the ICRC representative all the more cynical in connection with the recent visit of the President of the Red Cross Committee to the Russian Defense Ministry. According to the official representative of the department, the president of the ICRC certainly knows what kind of assistance Russia provides to the residents of Aleppo.
