The Great War. "The Battle of Moscow"


From the first days of the war, the capital of the USSR began preparing for defense. Offices and factories, embassies and ministries were evacuated. Marshal Zhukov was summoned from Leningrad to Moscow to organize the defense and halt the Nazi advance. According to the German plan for Operation Typhoon, the full force of Army Group Center's attack was directed at Moscow. Zhukov needed reserves and time, which he did not have. Meanwhile, German units were receiving reinforcements. The autumn rains began, hindering both armies. On October 17, Moscow was declared under siege, and the slogan "Not one step back" was chanted in the harshest terms. On November 7, a parade took place on Red Square, from which military units departed directly for the front. And the fierce resistance of the Red Army forces on all fronts forced the German command to recognize the plan to encircle Moscow as unrealistic.

    "The Great War" is a proper noun referring to the First World War. This wonderful film series describes the GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR!

      The First World War is called the Great War by Western bourgeois, but in the USSR this war was called the Imperialist War.

      There were all sorts of tanks near Moscow in 41: T-26s, T-28s, T-34s. There were also many British tanks, which aren't often remembered. Museum and experimental tanks were brought in from Kubinka: A-20s and T-29s.
