R. Duterte: “I want the Philippines and Russia to become best friends”
According to the Philippine leader, relations between Manila and Moscow have practically not developed in recent years, and today they are at a very low level. Rodrigo Duterte noted that by definition the Philippines simply cannot avoid such a powerful state as Russia, and expressed a desire to have a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future.
Statement Duterte leads news agency Associated Press:
The meeting of the presidents of Russia and the Philippines can be held at the next APEC summit in Peru. The summit is scheduled to take place from 18 to 20 in November.
Commented on Rodrigo Duterte (at the request of journalists) and his attitude to the elected US President Donald Trump:
Recall that a few weeks ago, the President of the Philippines, sharply reacting to attempts by the US authorities to interfere in the internal politics of official Manila, said that the Philippines "is time to say goodbye to Washington."
