Ukraine announced the creation of a new rocket complex
Pavlograd Chemical Plant together with Yuzhnoye Design Bureau completed work on the creation of a new operational-tactical missile complex (OTRK) "Grom", reports MIC with reference to the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty.
As the general director of the Pavlograd plant, Leonid Shiman, stated, “the work on the creation of the OTRK“ Thunder ”has been fully completed and is currently being prepared for its testing.”
"Starting from 2013, we, together with Yuzhnoye Design Bureau, without requesting financial support from the state, decided to create an operational-tactical complex" Thunder "with a firing range greater than that of Sapsan, for its further export," he said to reporters.
According to Schiman, "the ballistic and cruise missiles of the complex have a range of 280 kilometers, while it can be increased to 500 kilometers."
The publication reminds that the development of the Sapsan OTRK is being conducted in Ukraine from 2006. In 2013, the project was closed "due to inefficient use of budget funds", but at the beginning of this year Poroshenko said that the development of the complex would continue; highlighted.
Shiman noted that the company already has an order from a foreign buyer (according to unofficial data, from Saudi Arabia) for several Gromov. It is possible that an order from the Ukrainian military department will soon arrive.
“In the light of recent events, it became possible to use our scientific and technical potential to create new types of weapons associated with operational tactical missiles. This weapon allows you to prevent an attack from the aggressor from abroad, striking any man-made objects that are located, including in its territory. Since September, we actively continue to work, fill the engines so that in December they will go to the bench and flight tests ", - said the general director.
