One of the streets in Saratov now bears the name of the military pilot Yevgeny Dolgin, who died in Syria in the Palmyra region, reports RIA News.
“I decide to assign the name ... of the street originating from the street named after Mikhail Bulgakov in the south-east and then in the western direction - the name of Yevgeny Dolgin”- says the decision of the head of the Saratov administration.
The document notes that the street is located in the Leninsky district - the largest district of the city.
Russian military instructor pilots Ryafagat Khabibulin and Yevgeny Dolgin killed 8 July in Syria during a flight around Palmyra.
According to the Ministry of Defense, on this day, “a large detachment of militants of the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation attacked the positions of Syrian troops east of Palmyra” and, breaking through the defenses, could capture the dominant heights.
“At this time, Khabibulin and Dolgin flew around the Syrian Mi-25 helicopter. The crew commander Khabibulin decided to attack the terrorists. By the competent actions of the Russian crew, the offensive of the terrorists was foiled. The crew of the helicopter was killed. The servicemen were presented with high state awards, ”the agency reminds.
Yevgeny Dolgin was a native of the Saratov region. The pilot was buried in the cemetery in his native village Sokolovy.
