Estonian builders start building barracks for NATO multinational battalion

The construction company Merko Ehitus has concluded a contract with the Estonian Ministry of Defense for the construction of 2 barracks in the military town of Tapa, in which soldiers of the multinational NATO battalion will be placed in 2017 g, reports RIA News message of the press service of the company.
“The cost of a contract for the construction of a barracks complex consisting of two buildings, platforms and roads exceeds 7 million euros. The construction of the barracks will begin in November 2016 and will be completed in October 2017 of the year ", - said in a release.
Earlier it was reported that the Estonian government allocated £ 13 million for expenses related to the reception of Allied forces. It also included the cost of building barracks.
The agency recalls that the multinational battalion will consist of 1,1 thousand people, including from the UK - 800 military personnel and from France - 300. Later, the French will be replaced by the Danes. Together with the military, heavy military equipment, reconnaissance drones, etc. will be transferred to Estonia. The battalion will cooperate with the 1 Infantry Brigade of the Baltic Defense Forces.
