Turkey intends to create a “security zone” in northern Syria

36
Anadolu News Agency reports that the Turkish army, continuing the military operation “Euphrates Shield” (under this name, is the invasion of Syria), intends to create a “security zone” in the north of the SAR with a depth of at least 45 km from the Turkish border. This was said on the eve of the Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Yshik.

From the statement turkish minister:
As part of Operation Euphrates Shield along the border with Turkey, the DAESh militants (banned in the Russian Federation) cleared a section of the Syrian territory up to 90 km and a depth of at least 20 km. Our armed forces intend to drive even deeper, displacing the militants. We will create a security zone in the north of Syria to a depth of 45 km and eliminate the threat to Turkish territory.

Turkey intends to create a “security zone” in northern Syria

According to Yshik, the operation “Euphrates Shield” is also a set of measures to support the free Syrian army. The Turkish Defense Minister said that the armed forces of this very "army" with the support of the Turkish troops "are freeing terrorists from one locality after another." In particular, the other day the city of Dabik was “liberated” in northern Syria.

Attention is drawn to the fact that the settlements to which the Turkish army is coming, and in which at that time there are militants of the DAESH group (IG), these same militants are most often left without a fight. But fierce fighting goes on those areas that are partially or fully controlled by the Syrian Kurds.

Recall that the Turkish army carries out an invasion of Syria, violating all international norms - without the sanction of the UN Security Council and without the consent of the official Damascus.

Turkey is trying with all its might to grab a piece of Syria is a fact. What kind of security band are we talking about?

The "knot", as you say, was tied a long time ago. Erdogan is primarily interested in the territories that he believes will go to Turkey after the partition of Syria.

What territories? this is a fight against the attempts of the Kurds to create their own state in northern Syria. At the same time, the so-called * free army * which the US will never touch will land there. The Turks are solving the problem with the border (no one has even managed to cooperate fully with ISIS even with amers) and the problem with the Kurds (replacing them with the SSA, they will secure themselves from the Kurds and from the US attempts to change their plans again)

Receives payment for Turkish Stream. The Russian Foreign Ministry can only sympathize: the aggressor must be condemned, and the aggressor is at the same time ... a partner.

I remember here on the site some bonnets threw into the air with delight that Putin allowed the Turks to get into Syria! I, as I thought, I think Putin actually gave Erdogan a piece of Syria! He buried all hopes of restoring a united Syria! So easy, I ordered a foreign country, from a gentleman’s shoulder.
Ah Erdogan? As the saying goes, let the goat into the garden ... Erdogan will not even think about defending our interests, since his own are directly opposite to ours!
Why Putin makes such gifts to an opponent disguised as a supposedly friend is not clear! Disappointment will be bitter.
The death of a non-avenged pilot did not seem to teach anything! Masks, so to speak, from the scoundrel did not drop? We want to step on the old rake again?

that Putin allowed the Turks to get into Syria!

I probably missed something? When the GDP gave its green light to the Turks entering Syria. He couldn’t say such a thing if only because Russia itself stands up for the sovereignty of Syria.

Are you pretending or really so naive?
Do you really think that Erdogan climbed without Putin’s permission?
And there were no consultations on the line of intelligence and the General Staff?

            Watch the press?

As I understand it, the press gives out all the ideas of the GRU and the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to the mountain? You sometimes think first before writing. And then somehow it turns out uncomfortable. And apparently you and the army never had a relationship otherwise did not write such nonsense.

P.S. Yes, even the Turks themselves announced this! Officers of the Turkish General Staff, about these very consultations. Google, waste time if you really don't pretend to be.

Well, if you follow this issue so closely, you should remember what the Anglo-Saxons wanted to do in northern Syria. If you don’t remember, I’ll remind you.
There was a project to create a Kurdish state with access to the Mediterranean Sea (north of Latakia) or to the Black (south of Batumi), both options were worked out depending on the development of events. But after the start of an unexpected rapprochement with the Russian Kurds, after the downed plane, there were attempts to help create (in some way) a Kurdish national entity with the support of the Russian Federation, the US position has changed dramatically. Prior to this, they thought that they would do without the Kurds, and in the new scenario, they again began to support the Kurds on the border with Turkey. And what’s most interesting, the Kurds immediately closed the recently opened Kurdish representative office in Moscow, allegedly due to financial problems. It’s just that the Kurds again suddenly decided to go over to the Anglo-Saxons, well, what can you do? History doesn’t teach them anything. In this situation, the VP simply washed his hands and did not intervene in the changed situation. And now Turkey is simply pursuing its national interests in terms of the integrity of the state.
Although here they are again storming Mosul with the Americans, in the hope that something will fall into their hands. Well, just like children.

Well, this and the goat understand that the Turks are pursuing their interests. The question is different, what interests do we pursue? Change the flea, the Kurds on the Turks? Kurds at least stick out (bombs) could be in which case! What about the Turks?
Do you really think that the Turks, considering Syria as a sphere of their interests (and their lands from the time of the Ottoman Empire!) Will ever leave from there?
Ah, here the Kurds agreed to autonomy within the framework of united Syria!

Or vice versa - they sniffed with Erdogan after Iran kicked out ...

There is really a tangled tangle of interests and it’s impossible for someone to push their line exclusively, Russia certainly won’t succeed alone ....

Although the situation is getting more complicated. Erdogan will "chase" the Ishilovites from the territory he occupies, or they will retreat without a fight. It will support the opposition, the United States will arrange an offensive on Mossul in Iraq. Attention to the question, where will all these ISIS members go?

Already coming at a fairly fast pace. The former Syria is no longer and will not be. There will be a territory divided into zones of influence (how many of these zones will be, it’s hard to say, somewhere around 4-5).

As a result, Angela was released from prison, but American imperialism not only did not stop, but continues to advance. Maybe it's better not with slogans, but with concrete actions?

This is called an "occupation", not a "security zone". I don't think the Turks will be able to bring their idea to fruition. Apparently, the Syrian army is not yet up to the North. Aleppo would "clean up".

Not at all a topic, but, I’m on the main event, the death of Motorola. There are different people on the site, maybe someone has the opportunity and power, therefore, I propose, in honor of Arseny Pavlov, they will try to officially name the street, square, park in our country ... This is also a test of lice for our authorities, because if a Mannerchert board was hung in Leningrad, why can't a real peasant, warrior, MAN pay homage to a street in the Russian village in his honor? I hope that his memory will be immortalized in the republics! !!

Do you think a coincidence? I don’t think so! They clean one by one ... From puppet LPR and DPR created by the curators of the Kremlin, instead of New Russia, it has long been not good. The first bell sounded even when at that moment the most significant figure, Strelkova, was removed, and then the hero was also blackened!

MOSCOW, October 17 - RIA Novosti. The foreign ministers of the EU countries on Monday will call on "Syria and its allies" to appear before the International Criminal Court, and the participants in the Syrian settlement will be offered to involve the head of Euro-diplomacy in the negotiations, Reuters reports citing a draft statement following the ministerial meeting.

The meeting will be held on Monday in Luxembourg.

According to the agency, in a statement, ministers will condemn a "catastrophic escalation" in eastern Syrian Aleppo and say that airstrikes on hospitals and civilians "can amount to war crimes."

According to European diplomats, the EU will also call for a cessation of hostilities in Syria and the establishment of a ceasefire observation mission, as well as a call for a new attempt at a peace settlement with the participation of EU diplomat Federica Mogherini and for immediate access to European humanitarian assistance.

the Turks spat on the heleb, apparently figuring that it was more expensive to rebuild than building a new city in a new place (by the way, there is no one else to rebuild Syria except Turkey, no one has such technical, logistic, labor and financial opportunities nearby).
a new Syria will appear in their "security zone" - they will move refugees from Turkey there, start active construction, and there will be the only more or less prosperous area against the background of the rest of the destroyed country, and then other regions will want to go there.
there will be such a Syrian analogue of Barzanistan where everything is built by the Turks and all goods from socks to tractors from Turkey.
Erdogan needed not Syrian territory and not a drop of Syrian oil (reserves are small there) - he needed Syria as a transit territory for Arabian pipelines and even more as a market for Turkish industry. such is the new Ottoman imperialism now.

It is clear that Turkey has won the most from the collapse of Syria. She had all the possibilities for this. Here is what is not clear - what can Russia win there? Base and lack of pipelines? And then if Assad manages to maintain power even on a piece of Syria and restore there some kind of bad world.

Russia’s task is to delay the war to the maximum; we don’t need either an Arab pipe in case of victory of the opposition, or Iranian in case of victory of Assad.
why do we need a base, in addition to maintaining military gravity in Syria, I do not know. I don’t see other goals.
