TASS reports that today in the United Nations officially named the name of the person who replaces the post of Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. This man will be the Portuguese Antonio Guterres. This name, it should be noted, was announced a week ago, but it was Guterres’s candidacy that was approved as the UN Secretary General. Guterres becomes the ninth general secretary of the organization. The official inauguration will occur on January 1 2017 of the year. Termination of powers (if the UN does not order to live long ...) by António Guterres - December 31 2021. Until December 31 of the current year (2016), Ban Ki-moon will continue to occupy his post.

António Guterres from June 2005 to December 2015 served as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. He was born 30 April 1949, in Lisbon, studied engineering and physics at the Higher Technical Institute, and also worked as a teacher in high school. In 1974, Antonio Guterres joined the Socialist Party. In the 1995 year, three years after being elected General Secretary of the Socialists, he became the Prime Minister of Portugal. In his speech in April 2016 as a candidate for the post of head of the world organization to the delegates of the UN General Assembly, he said that 28's experience in public service in Portugal, including as Prime Minister, would be useful to him. Guterres said that he began his activities as a volunteer, helping the poor in the slums of Lisbon. At the same time, António Guterres said that the interests of the most disadvantaged segments of the population should be the focus of all UN programs and projects.
Ban Ki-moon said he was pleased with the choice of the UN.
