The press service of the Southern Military District reports that in the Chechen Republic tank units of the motorized rifle brigade of the 58th army began combat training activities as part of a one-year combat training plan. The crews of the T-72B3 tanks began performing control exercises called the “tank carousel”. Exercises and firing along their course are performed both in the daytime and at night.
Press service of the Southern Military District:
Tankmen constantly fire on targets that imitate heavy equipment of a conditional enemy, both from the spot and in frontal and flank movement within a single check-in en route. While the first tank is shooting from the spot, the second loads ammunition. When extending the first tank to the flank firing, the second one takes up a position for firing. In this case, the sector of shooting, the sequence of raising targets and the distance to them to the crew of the tank are not known in advance.
The report says that the dynamics of the tactical and target situation is designed to develop a rapid response for tank crews, the ability to think outside the box, solving one or other combat tasks.
The maximum range of firing from the 125-mm tank gun was increased from 2000 to 2200 m, which also complicated the conditions for the exercise. At the same time, by shortening the target display time, the aiming time was reduced and the rate of shooting increased.
The T-72B3 has an improved fire control system with a PED (digital ballistic computer) “Pine-U”. The optical channels of the Sosna-U TsBV make it possible to take a tank-type target for tracking at a distance of 5 km. The T-72B3 tank is equipped with a new generation of digital communications.
