ARMY-2016. MIP complex from Roscosmos

3

Not quite, of course, Roscosmos. NPO measuring equipment that is located at a very famous address in the city of Korolev.

History The NGO measuring technique began 50 years ago. In 1946, simultaneously with the design office of S. P. Korolev, a laboratory of sensors and measuring systems was established as part of the leading institute for rocket and space technology (NII-88).

Its main purpose was to provide measuring instruments for ground and flight testing and testing of rocket and space technology.

In 1966, the Research Institute of Measuring Equipment, the Scientific and Research Institute of Information Technologies, was established on the basis of the 5 research complex of the Central Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering.

Today NPO IT is the leading enterprise in the country in telemetry and sensor equipment, microelectronics for rocket and space technology.

At the ARMY-2016 forum, NGO IT was presented to the MIP - a mobile measuring complex.

The complex consists of the AP-4 antenna telemetry information receiving complex, the Mobile Information Measuring Module (MMII), the Mobile Information Measuring Module №3 (MMII3).

The AP-4 telemetry information receiving complex is designed to receive telemetry information in meter (Ml, MI, Mill) and decimeter (D1, DM) radio wave bands coming from special-purpose objects.

The MMII module is intended for receiving, processing, recording and transmitting telemetric and video telemetry information.

The MMIB module №3 receives, pre-processes and transmits information received from spacecraft in a solar-synchronous orbit up to kilometers in height 800-900 and transmitting in the L-band.

We were not allowed to go further than the threshold, “all the same, you will not understand what is there for.” Indeed, they would not understand.

The complex is mobile, allows you to work in a temperature range from the Far North to the tropics. The deployment time is 2 hours.

Representatives of the NGO IT were very willing to talk about civilian use. If you connect the MIP to the orbital constellation of meteorological satellites, you can conduct operational monitoring of forest fires, flood control, monitor the dynamics of snow and ice cover. Hydrometeorology, agriculture, weather forecasting. There are many places where you can find the use of these clever things.

They talked about military application much more sparingly. But I had to, given that the forum was just a military one. Oleg Kovalev, the head of the whole NPO IT delegation at the forum, from the department of development, testing and scientific and technical support of mobile measuring devices talked with us.

MIP is intended for information support of test missile launches of any home base, including ICBMs. Including promising.

The complex is able to track everything that happens to the rocket from the moment of launch, until the moment of completion of the flight. How the telemetry system worked, where the detachable parts fell, and so on. Up to the last detail. Even assess the consequences of the launch in terms of ecology, if necessary.

The MIP complex is the basic platform on the basis of which new, more specialized complexes are being created. It is clear that products designed for the Strategic Missile Forces are unlikely to be able to properly work out in the interests of agriculture or the environment.

This refers to our agriculture and ecology, of course.

But the fact that for the Strategic Missile Forces these complexes will become a necessary help, for some reason there is no doubt.

The good thing is, in fact, a partial replacement (of course, it’s impossible to completely replace the functionality with various types of antennas with a diameter of several meters) by a stationary OKIK, which will significantly increase the survivability of controlling spacecraft orbital groups in case of something. In addition, given the certain mobility, it is possible to carry out tests and work on the spacecraft in addition to the established sessions of stationary OKIK based on the time of flight and trajectory.

"But for some reason there is no doubt that these complexes will become a necessary aid for the Strategic Missile Forces."

For some reason, I thought about it only after reading the title of the article.
