Qatari TV journalists Al Jazeera report that the Taliban attacked Kunduz from four directions at once, which allowed the militants to crush the resistance of the Afghan army and police in several sectors at once.
A police spokesman for Kunduz, Ali Kamal, states that the militant offensive began at around midnight local time. After some time, military helicopters appeared over the city, with fire from which the Afghan military tried to suppress the offensive activity of the Taliban, but the militants managed to occupy several quarters in the city.
The fact of taking control of the quarters in Kunduz is confirmed by the Taliban themselves. On the page of one of the leaders of the group on Twitter, there was information that the Taliban occupied the 4 checkpoints, as well as the Navabad quarter. During the battle, several dozen Afghan soldiers were killed, at least four policemen and military were captured. Fighting the Afghan army with the Taliban are a few dozen kilometers from the border with Tajikistan.
It must be recalled that Kunduz came under the control of the Afghan army about a year ago. For a long time, the city was under the control of the Taliban.
