According to the newspaper "News"Haftar, through his envoy - the representative of the Libyan diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia, Abdel Basset al-Badri - conveyed his aspirations to Moscow. Sources of the newspaper report that Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov received this man. The meeting discussed the issue of lifting the arms embargo on Libya.
In particular, it became known that Libya wants to receive from Russia not only small arms, but even military aircraft.
It is strange that Haftar, through his representatives, did not turn for military assistance to those who led Libya to “true democracy” - the USA, France, Britain, etc. Did the Libyans really get “tired of democracy”? ..
If Marshal Haftar has the desire to confront terrorists in Libya, then this is commendable. That's just the question is, but what today generally need to be considered Libya and the Libyan army? After the NATO invasion, this country turned into a patchwork quilt, on every patch of which one or another force tries to run: from Western henchmen to ISIL (forbidden by the Russian Federation). In whose hands will Russian weapons fall (if Moscow suddenly gives the go-ahead) in such a situation is a question to which Marshal Haftar is unlikely to give a definite answer with any guarantees.
