Merkel hopes for progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements

After a recent telephone conversation with Petro Poroshenko, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed hope that in the near future they will be able to advance in the implementation of the Minsk agreements to resolve the situation in the east of Ukraine, reports TASS.
“Against the background of the improvement of the security situation in the east of the country, further steps to implement the Minsk agreements were discussed. The Chancellor expressed confidence that the coming weeks should be used to take the decisive step forward ",
told the representative of the German government Ulrike Demmer.
According to her, in conversation with the Ukrainian president, Merkel also noted “the importance of all parties demonstrating the political will to reach agreements.”
After the visit to Kiev, the head of the German Foreign Ministry Frank-Walter Steinmeier stated that it is hoped that “next week the Contact Group in Minsk will be able to finally agree on an agreement on the breeding of the parties to the conflict in the Donbass”.
