The hero died ... Russia! In memory of Colonel "Alpha" Yuri Torshin
It is difficult to write about a man whom he knew more than well. Knew over the years. With whom he served and ate more than one pound of salt. But such is our fate: to risk our own lives and bury our comrades.
Yuriy Nikolayevich, in fact, died at the post. From August 2015, he served as adviser to the President of the Chechen Republic on the security bloc.
Yuriy Nikolayevich came to Group A of the Seventh Directorate of the KGB of the USSR in December 1982 of the year. He has been behind the war in Afghanistan (the so-called combat training), hot spots on the territory of the former Soviet Union, two wars in the North Caucasus, Nord-Ost and Beslan, the most complicated operations to destroy terrorists and free
hostages.
During the terrorist attack on Dubrovka (“Nord-Ost”), it was Yuriy Nikolayevich’s group who worked on the morning of October 26 for the leader of the terrorists, Mavsar Barayev, and destroyed him.
Behind these short lines is the life of a Man, given to Special Forces and the Fatherland.
Yuriy Nikolayevich was always at the forefront, on the edge of a particular special operation. With his subordinates and comrades. I could not imagine myself otherwise. And sometimes even the impression was created that Yuriy Nikolayevich was “more comfortable” in the war than at home. And as many officers who served under his command now say, they owe their lives to Torshin, the man and the commander ...
The captain of “Alpha”, Roman Lashin, said with conviction: “While Yuriy Nikolayevich is in charge of the department, nothing will happen to us.” And these words were prophetic. After Yury Nikolaevich handed over the department, Roman Lashin (together with Major Igor Panin) died in Dagestan in the summer of 2011.
It is about people like Yuriy Nikolaevich Torshin who put the songs together: “Combat-daddy, daddy-kombat, you didn't hide the heart behind the guys”.
... I knew Yury Nikolayevich well, we were friends. From Alpha, he resigned relatively recently, being the head of the operational-combat department of Directorate “A” of the Special Purpose Center of the Federal Security Service of Russia. And I saw how, after being transferred to the reserve, Yuriy Nikolayevich literally could not find a place in civilian life. That is why he took the appointment to a responsible post in the Chechen Republic in the summer of 2015 as the logical continuation of all his previous activities in the state security system.
In November, 2015, I and my friends came to Chechnya to see firsthand how and how the republic lives - the city of Grozny, which we remembered as “the ruins of Stalingrad”.
Accompanied by Torshin, we could not get attached to the terrain to old Grozny. The only place that could “identify” - a tunnel under the former area of “Minute”.
And I remembered how once, on this very spot, I asked Yuriy Nikolayevich the question in 2002: “Tell me, will it all end here?”, Referring to war, ruin and everything else. “While maintaining the current state of affairs, never,” answered Yuriy Nikolayevich.
And in the presence of Ramzan Kadyrov I reminded these words to Torshin. Republic has changed beyond recognition. And the price paid for all this allows us to hope for the best. For Chechnya. For the whole of Russia.
There, in Chechnya in 2015, we saw the former Torshin - he “burned” at work and felt himself in his element. However, something happened that was supposed to happen. This is destiny…
Goodbye Thirtieth! We will remember you, Yury Nikolaevich.
For everyone who knew Torshin, he was a Hero.
So he will forever remain in our hearts.
